The City of Las Cruces has recently appointed Hector Terrazas as its new Deputy Director for Natural Gas and Energy, an announcement that came earlier this December. Hector Terrazas began his tenure in the realm of public service back in 2007 when he started as a roadway inspector for the New Mexico Department of Transportation. He then joined the City of Las Cruces in 2008, at which time he concurrently pursued a civil engineering degree at New Mexico State University, according to the City of Las Cruces.
After graduating in 2011, Terrazas quickly evolved his professional expertise, becoming a licensed Professional Engineer by 2015. In his time at the City, he has overseen various capital infrastructure projects before moving on to the role of Traffic Operations Engineer in 2018. In this capacity, he not only addressed pressing traffic concerns but also fostered communication and cooperation between city staff and the public.
In 2022, Terrazas was elevated to the position of Senior Civil Engineer, showcasing a trajectory of steady advancement and growing responsibility within the city's infrastructure sector. The following year, he augmented his credentials with a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer certification, further solidifying his expertise in the field of urban planning and traffic management.
