Yesterday morning, residents of the Cielo Point Apartments in Lauderhill experienced a terrifying incident when one vehicle caught fire in the parking lot, the flames quickly engulfing three additional cars and causing minor damage to a nearby home. Lauderhill Police and Fire Rescue responded promptly to the blaze at the complex located on the 6800 block of Landings Drive, managing to extinguish the fire, evacuate the surrounding residences, and, fortunately, no injuries were reported, according to NBC Miami.

Ring camera footage revealed the intensity of the fire which sent flames as tall as the second story of adjacent buildings, causing a neighbor's doorbell and blinds to melt - this heat-trapping one resident and her cat until firefighters were able to rescue them, WSVN reports. The same neighbor recounted “We pretty much woke up to explosions and fire outside,” resulting in the destruction of both her vehicles and leaving her unable to escape through a jammed door and an explosive adjacent window.

Initial investigations suggest that a mechanical problem within one car may have been the fire's origin, with no current evidence pointing towards suspicious activity. Cleanup efforts followed the subdued flames, leaving a cover of ash and debris in place of the parked vehicles, now towed from the site, as stated by NBC Miami.

"I'm thankful to be alive and that it's just things," a neighbor told WSVN, expressing relief that despite the extent of material losses, which included not just the cars but also impacted home fixtures, no physical harm had come to the residents. Alberta Johnson McBride, another resident of the complex, described the situation, “I had to move my car because we didn’t know. It was horrific. It was crazy,” noting that the fires were so severe they had to consider emergency exits from their properties to avoid potential explosions but she was glad when the morning did not greet her with "yellow tape," signifying a bleaker outcome.

The investigation into the exact cause of the fire is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine all contributing factors. Witnesses and those affected by the fire will continue to cooperate with investigators.
