Residents around Sand Cherry Lane in Laurel can expect to see construction crews setting up as soon as December 16, weather permitting. According to the Howard County Government's announcement, the crews will be tasked with repairing and upgrading the existing stormwater management pond at 8421 Sand Cherry Lane.
This construction project, expected to run until mid to late April 2025, should not interfere with local traffic. Nevertheless, signs will be posted to alert locals about the ongoing work from Monday through Friday and occasionally on Saturdays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., as noted by Howard County.
The repair work is part of a larger initiative to improve water quality and aid in the county's restoration efforts. It falls under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System permit. The cost of this construction is being shouldered by the County’s Watershed Protection and Restoration Fund, signifying Howard County's commitment to environmental management and sustainability.
