Westwood experienced a violent altercation outside Lucille's Blues and Diner as a man, identified as Andre Sherrod, 57, was accused of shooting two security guards. Sherrod was taken into custody and charged with two counts of aggravated assault. This incident resulted from his being denied entry to the club due to intoxication, triggering a confrontation between him and the security personnel, as Action News 5 reported.
Following the refusal for entry on December 10, Sherrod allegedly retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and shot at the security guards, Quintrease Rhodes and Jayden Logan, who were outside the establishment. According to WREG, Rhodes was hit in her left hand and arm, while Logan sustained gunshot wounds to each of his thighs. Despite being victims of the shooting, the security guards were also arrested for illegal weapon possession shortly thereafter. Rhodes was charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and Logan was allegedly found to have a stolen gun with an attachment that could modify it to fire automatically.
Sherrod, now behind bars on a $100,000 bond, engaged in this violent act after the seemingly routine process of a security check escalated into physical conflict. He is alleged to quickly have gone to his vehicle, armed himself, and opened fire in his escape -- a chilling detail also included in a FOX13 Memphis report. The security guards' subsequent arrest introduced a dual narrative of violence met with questionable protocols and the profound cost of a security net entangled in legal violations.
In more detail, court documents cited by FOX13 Memphis allege that Logan's firearm had been fitted with a "Glock switch," a device designed to to significantly increase the weapon's firing capacity, which is prohibited under federal laws. Rhodes, with a gun despite her status as a convicted felon, added a layer of complexity to the incident, muddying the waters between victims and perpetrators, as revealed by the investigation. This case serves as another flashpoint in an ongoing conversation about club security, gun possession, and the unforeseen repercussions when the two collide under dubious circumstances.
