A tragic incident unfolded within an Oak Park Independent Living Facility when a 49-year-old man was discovered with a life-threatening gunshot wound. In the late hours of December 21, San Diego Police Department's Southeastern Division was called to the scene at approximately 10:24 p.m., responding to a reported shooting at the facility located on 3133 54th Street.
San Diego officers arrived at the location, finding the wounded man, a black individual whose identity has been withheld until family can be notified. According to the City of San Diego's official website, the victim, suffering from a gunshot to his torso, received immediate CPR from officers on site before being transported to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The facility, occupied by at least nine people at the incident's time, has become the center of a meticulous investigation as detectives interview those present and sift through security footage in search of any clues. As of now, details on where exactly within the facility the incident took place have yet to be confirmed, and law enforcement has not released a suspect description.
