
A section of Loop 303 was temporarily sealed off following a fatal incident involving a pedestrian, as confirmed by Arizona Department of Public Safety officials. The southbound lanes near Peoria Road in Surprise were closed after a man was fatally struck by a truck while reportedly attempting to recover a ladder from the roadway. FOX 10 Phoenix reported that the man died at the scene of the accident.
The closure of the freeway caused significant traffic diversions with authorities advising motorists to use Cotton Lane and Sarival Road as alternative routes. According to a 12 News account, investigators took to thoroughly examine the site, to collect evidence and to work on clearing the roadways for travel to resume smoothly.
The aftermath of the accident had motorists seeking real-time traffic updates as congestion began to build up around the impacted exits. The southbound Loop 303 was subsequently reopened near the Peoria Avenue exit after the investigation and clean-up operations concluded. The stretch of the freeway had been inaccessible for several hours, with the road reopening around 4 p.m. following the accident, as per 12 News.
