An altercation in St. Louis' Academy neighborhood has left one man with a bullet graze to the head, authorities say. The incident, which took place early in the morning hours, was followed by the victim's arrival at a local hospital where he was treated for his injury. According to a statement released by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the call to law enforcement was made around 3 a.m. after the victim managed to seek medical attention.
The initial investigation into the shooting suggests the victim and suspect were engaged in an argument concerning personal matters. In a violent escalation, "the suspect produced a handgun, placed it against the victim's head and pulled the trigger," authorities revealed. Miraculously, the victim was quick enough to slightly move his head, narrowly escaping a more serious wound. Despite the ordeal, the victim was prompted to promptly leave the scene and, after the encounter, obtained medical care.
Further details provided by officials suggest that the triggerman and victim are not strangers – they were acquainted before the incident. Nevertheless, the nature of their relationship remains unclear as of this reporting and no information regarding a possible motive has been divulged to the public.
As of now, no arrests have been confirmed by the police, leaving the suspect at large. The investigative process remains ongoing as detectives strive to unravel the details surrounding this potentially fatal altercation.
