Tragedy struck early Saturday morning when a man died in a crash in south St. Louis County. According to Fox2Now, the incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on South Lindbergh Boulevard near Interstate 55, where the victim's vehicle veered off the road, striking a concrete light pole and rolling over.
The man, whose identity remains undisclosed, was trapped in his vehicle, despite attempts by several people, including a local nurse, to rescue him. Kathy Morard, the nurse, reported to KSDK, "I was holding his hand," a poignant reflection on the fleeting connection made in the face of imminent loss.
The Mehlville Fire Department and Affton Southwest precinct responded to the accident, with Assistant Chief Dan LaFata stating that first responders had to cut the vehicle to extricate the victim.
