In the dim light of early morning on December 22, a carjacking occurred in the 1100 block of Hodiamont, as reported by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. A 41-year-old man found himself abruptly facing the barrel of a firearm, wielded by two unidentified male suspects demanding that he exit his 2012 Chevy Equinox. Despite his initial refusal to comply, the situation rapidly escalated as the suspects forcibly removed him from the vehicle. "The man said he was struck in his head with the suspects’ firearm, causing a laceration," according to the police's statement.
The victim, whose identity has yet to be released, was seated in his car at around 6:40 a.m. when the unexpected confrontation took place. This brazen act quickly shifted to violence as the man endeavored but failed to safely remain in his car. Once the suspects had managed to force him out, they proceeded to make their getaway in the stolen vehicle. The suspects remain at large, and the investigation is continuing to actively unfold as authorities seek any leads to apprehend them.
After the incident, emergency medical services arrived at the scene, promptly transporting the injured man to the hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries, beyond the head laceration, has not been disclosed.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department urges the community to come forward with any information.
