In the spirit of the season, Maple Grove's annual Shop-with-a-Cop event turned a routine December Wednesday into a day of unexpected joy for local kids in need. According to a social media post from the Maple Grove Police Department, the community effort saw officers teaming up with businesses and volunteers to provide an uplifting experience that went beyond just material gifts.
With contributions including transportation from First Student Bus and financial support from Walmart, the event managed to seamlessly bring together various aspects of the community. Event-goers were treated not only to a shopping spree but also to pizza from Angeno's Maple Grove and a warming cup of hot chocolate courtesy of Caribou. It's rare to see so many organizations band together to so quickly make a difference; such efforts reflect a genuine commitment to fostering positive relations between law enforcement and the community at large.
Maple Grove Police Department made it clear just how much the support meant, sharing, "We're so grateful to have the opportunity to support children in need!"– a sentiment undoubtedly echoed by the families who benefitted from the gesture. Their gratitude was also extended to Walmart, whom they thanked for a "generous donation, making this wonderful event possible!"
