The City of Marietta has announced that its administrative offices will be closed on Wednesday, January 1st to observe the New Year's Day holiday. This closure extends to the Marietta Power and Water administrative offices. For residents, this means an adjustment in the city's sanitation schedule, including changes to garbage, brush/yard waste, and recycling collections throughout the holiday week.
According to a notice published by the City of Marietta, all emergency services remain fully operational. Residents who face life-threatening emergencies should still call 9-1-1. For police non-emergencies, the Marietta Police Department can be reached at 770-794-5300. With administrative offices being closed, an emergency involving Marietta Power or Water must be reported at 770-794-5160.
The City encourages residents to use the Marietta Trash Talk app or to visit the City's website to review adjustments to sanitation services for the week. The adjusted schedule punctuates the holiday's impact on routine public services and the necessity for residents to plan accordingly. Full details on the revised collection schedule can be found on the City's online platforms.
Animal Control will also remain responsive to emergency calls made to 9-1-1 during the holiday closure period. The notice reminded residents that, while celebrating the advent of the New Year, they should still be mindful of their pets and other animals in the community that may require attention.
