These soon-to-be "Security Guard Employers" must also register online and provide proof of insurance to the Maryland State Police Licensing Division.
It is critical to note that the way to submit Professional License applications will undergo a significant shift. All paper forms for licenses, including those for Security Guards, Security Guard Agencies, and several other related professions, must be physically received by the Licensing Division in Pikesville by December 27. As clearly emphasized by the Licensing Division, the transition marks an effort to move fully into the digital age only to accept electronic submissions starting the new year.
Anticipating potential confusion, the Licensing Division has arranged virtual training sessions, which businesses and individuals can sign up for online. However, those who fail to meet the December deadline will face a procedural setback. "PAPER APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AFTER FRIDAY, DECEMBER 27, 2024 WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AND WILL BE RETURNED WITH INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO RESUBMIT ELECTRONICALLY WITHIN THE LICENSING PORTAL," the Maryland State Police strictly advises. This underscores the state's commitment to streamlining processes and fully embracing a more eco-friendly, paperless system.
