A 20-year-old man, identified as Delangelo Turner, has been taken into custody on charges including first-degree murder following a shooting incident in Whitehaven last month, according to the Memphis Police Department's social media post. The violent event unfolded on November 27 when officers arrived at East Shelby Drive and Faronia Road to find a bullet-ridden car that had been involved in a crash, where they discovered one victim on the scene and learned that two others had been taken to Methodist South by private vehicle.
Upon arrival at the hospital, it was confirmed that one of the male victims had died from multiple gunshot wounds, with the incident ultimately claiming the life of Jordan White. Another male suffered a non-fatal gunshot wound and a woman was treated for a leg injury, as reported by WREG in their coverage of the homicide.
The altercation, leading up to this tragic outcome, apparently began as a gun trade arranged to take place on Stacey Road that turned into an armed robbery. The victims arranged to trade their gun for another firearm of lesser value plus $250 cash when they were ambushed by Turner and possibly other accomplices. During the transaction, the suspects allegedly demanded the cash and opened fire, which later led to the vehicle collision, details provided in the FOX13 Memphis report indicate.
Investigative efforts by authorities linked the shell casings found at the scene to another shooting incident that happened a day prior and through video evidence and vehicle identification, Turner's involvement was confirmed. Following the identification of the suspect car in the 200 block of Raines Road, it was stopped in the 4100 block of Neely where police apprehended Turner. Subsequent searches at the vehicle's location and Turner's residence uncovered a .45 caliber handgun and a live round believed to be connected to the crimes
Currently being held accountable for his actions, Turner is awaiting his court appearance set for the coming Thursday.
