Memphis Police Department is actively conducting a death investigation following the discovery of what is believed to be human remains at an intersection in Southwest Memphis. According to Action News 5, the unsettling discovery was made Monday afternoon near West Mitchell Road at Weaver Road.
Responding to a call made at 1:26 p.m. on Monday about a suspicious occurrence, officers arrived on the scene to discover the remains. WREG reports that as of Tuesday, the police remained in the area, engaged in collecting evidence pertinent to their investigation.
The identity of the deceased individual has yet to be determined, leaving questions lingering among the residents of the neighborhood. The proximity to notable locations, such as being only a five-minute drive west of Mitchell High School, adds a layer of concern and urgency to the ongoing investigation.
