Memphis Police are actively investigating a shooting that took place early Monday morning in the Riverside area. According to Action News 5, the incident occurred on Vaal Avenue and officers responded to the call around 2:30 a.m. The report indicates that one person was taken to the hospital and is currently in critical condition.
In an apparently related event on the same avenue, a teenager was injured during a shooting in South Memphis. FOX13 Memphis reported that officers found the teen after having to quickly respond to the scene between Castex and Pennsylvania streets. However, at this time, the condition of the teen remains unknown.
The Memphis Police Department (MPD) has not yet released further details about the potential connection between the two incidents which happened on the same street. WREG indicated that a heavy police presence was still on the scene following the events, with an ongoing investigation into the shootings.
