Memphis Police are on the hunt for a man responsible for a violent robbery and assault at a hotel earlier this week. WREG reports that, on Monday, at the Siegel Select on Shelby Oaks Drive, the suspect forced entry through the employee-only entrance around 5:24 p.m., initiating the confrontation.

The incident quickly escalated as the suspect, brandishing a firearm and a stun gun, accosted the hotel manager. As mentioned by Fox13 Memphis, the man demanded access to the safe, pistol-whipped the manager, and used the stun gun on him. Pistol whipping them several times over the head, he also tased the manager in the back.

A witness tried to intervene after being disturbed by noise but was overpowered and thrown down by the assailant, who attempted to fire his weapon, which malfunctioned. "While holding the manager and the witness at gunpoint, a hotel employee came into the building, distracting the suspect," according to the Memphis Police Department on their Facebook post. The employee managed to escape after the suspect gave chase, allowing them time to find safety.

Police are looking for a suspect involved in a recent crime. He is a stocky man with light brown eyes, wearing a black coat with a Nike logo and black pants. He took stolen items, including a handgun and taser. Anyone with information can contact CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH or through their website or app. Tipsters may receive a reward and remain anonymous, as stated by WREG.
