
Memphis residents are reeling from a recent homicide that occurred Friday afternoon in the Thompson Courts Apartments. The Memphis Police Department reported that at approximately 2:00 p.m. on December 27, officers responded to a shooting call on the 1900 block of Frisco Avenue. A male victim was discovered in the parking lot with a gunshot wound, paramedics rushed him to Regional One Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to the same source, the surveillance footage showed a suspect described as a black male, tall and slender, wearing a multicolored jacket, dark-colored pants, and white shoes. He was seen fleeing the scene in a black Honda Accord, with the Illinois tag EX93226, which was then spotted near Lamar Ave, and Semmes St. As the search intensifies for the suspect, no arrests have been made yet.
The police are actively seeking tips from the community and have encouraged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers. The Police Department reassured the public that tipsters would be provided with a personal ID number to keep their identity anonymous. Information can also be submitted anonymously through the Crime Stoppers website or by utilizing their mobile app "P3 Tips."
Crime Stoppers of Memphis and Shelby County, Inc. has promised a cash reward for tips that lead to an arrest, heightening the community's role in solving this grievous crime. The police and local residents are hoping for a break in the case soon, the identity of the victim has not yet been released as the investigation continues to unfold.
