
A tragic incident unfolded yesterday near Memphis where a 62-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle. The Mississippi Highway Patrol confirmed the victim was Sherry Nicholson from Memphis, who sustained fatal injuries from the collision. As reported by Action News 5, the accident occurred just before 8 p.m. on Highway 302 in Marshall County.
The patrol responded to the crash involving a 2020 Nissan Maxima, driven by an unidentified 28-year-old, which collided with Nicholson as she was walking on the roadway. In a statement obtained by WREG, MHP is yet to conclude their investigation but have shared that the driver was not injured and, as of now, no charges are expected to quickly be filed. Nicholson, unfortunately, died at the scene before she could be transported for medical assistance.
Details regarding the exact location on Highway 302 where the incident took place were not initially released. The authorities later confirmed that the accident happened around 7:40 p.m., as cited by FOX13 Memphis.
