Bringing together city officials and members of the Jewish community, Mayor John Giles and Rabbi Laibel Blotner, executive director of the Chabad Jewish Center of Mesa, highlighted the ceremony. "Here in Mesa we're blessed to have one of the largest menorahs in the state of Arizona," Rabbi Blotner told FOX 10 Phoenix. He added that the city's initiative to reach out for the event felt deeply honorable.
According to Your Valley, the ceremony took place outside The Post and will be followed by additional candle lighting each night until Hanukkah concludes at sundown on January 2. The evening progressed with family activities and music indoors at The Post, extending the community engagement beyond the ceremonial flame.
