Miami residents woke up to a brisk morning today, as temperatures conspicuously dropped into the 50s, defying the area's typical morning warmth of around 65 degrees. The unusual chill is part of a cold front sweeping the region, bringing with it not only lower temperatures but also blustery conditions that are expected to persist into the weekend, according to NBC Miami.
The National Weather Service reports that afternoon highs will barely manage to reach the low-70 degrees, a stark contrast to the usual highs around 79 degrees for this time of year. Moreover, a small craft advisory has been issued, along with warnings for a high risk of rip currents due to the gusty conditions. Despite the current chill, forecasts indicate a quick turnaround as winds are set to shift from the north to the east. This change is to gradually warm temperatures back to their normal range, with morning marks nearing 70 degrees and highs close to 80 by the weekend.
A detailed forecast provided by the National Weather Service suggests a partly sunny day today with a high around 74 degrees, accompanied by breezy conditions. Showers also sneak into the forecast, with a 20 percent chance beginning Friday afternoon. These conditions, carrying a slight chance of showers, are forecast to continue sporadically throughout the weekend and into early next week, with temperatures climbing gradually.
Water temperatures are currently in the mid-70s, offering some warmth as winds shift, mainly from the Atlantic. While it may still feel cooler over the next few days, winds are expected to ease by the weekend, bringing more comfortable outdoor conditions.
