
Milton's Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) recently convened to tackle key community issues surrounding after-school program logistics and to provide updates on several park projects, the meeting was streamed online for public access. According to the City of Milton release, Yesterday's gathering marked a chance for the seven-member panel to deliberate over proposals for handling late pick-ups from Milton-affiliated programs, along with the potential implementation of after care options for Camp Compass and Camp Joyful Soles.
The assembled group, appointed by Milton's Mayor and City Council, also reviewed the possibility of extending their "Adopt-a-Trail" stewardship to include the Wolff Trail at Lakhapani Preserve, an initiative that encourages local engagement with the maintenance of city trails. In addition, members of the board discussed meeting schedules for the upcoming year. Matters of "New Business" for the board involved the potential continuity of this program and the new late pick-up fees proposed by staff, as per the City of Milton.
Among the updates presented to PRAB were plans to reconfigure the parking lot at Legacy Park, as per city documents, the project aims to add spaces and improve the current layout. Details provided by the city noted that Milton City Park and Preserve is undergoing enhancements including natural habitat work, stormwater management improvements, and fresh trails for the park's passive area.
Communication updates from PRAB featured dialogues around the Deerfield Implementation Plan, a dynamic effort spearheaded by Special Projects Director Bob Buscemi to shape a sustainable vision for areas such as Highway 9, Deerfield Parkway, Morris Road, and Windward Parkway. The city also disclosed, that planning is in motion for additional park facilities including tennis courts and a playground on newly acquired land along Deerfield Parkway. Emily Salerno, in community outreach, capped off with recollections of recent Christmas events and heralded the premiere of a Tea Party with Mrs. Claus.
