The longstanding tradition, which holds the title of the longest-running city tree lighting in the nation behind New York City's, was held this year at Fiserv Forum's Cheer District.
The centerpiece of the night, a 64-foot Colorado Blue Spruce, stood towering – its majestic branches reaching out as if embracing the onlookers. Illuminated by We Energies, with "5,000 lights and over 900 holiday ornaments" the Yeager family specially donated the tree from their home near 48th Street and Washington Boulevard – a detail highlighted by CBS58.
According to TMJ4, the Christmas spirit was in full swing, complete with reindeer and Santa himself posing for photos, while DJ Shawna and a 21-piece band provided the night's soundtrack. All of this occurring in the newly-dubbed Cheer District, which was transformed from its usual moniker, Deer District, for the holiday season.
"I was just shocked," "I couldn't believe that I was literally seeing a big Christmas tree being lit up," 8-year-old McKenzie Cohen admitted in awe, as recounted by CBS58.
