The City of Minnetonka is calling on locals to help lead the charge in creating new off-leash areas for dogs, taking community engagement to the park level. They are looking to form a workgroup of seven to nine volunteer residents who will play a pivotal role in advising on the development of these dog-friendly spaces within city parks and other properties owned by the city.
To capture a range of views and experiences, the city is striving for a diverse composition of the workgroup. This initiative reflects an understanding that the canine companions of Minnetonka and their human counterparts have varying needs that ought to be heard and integrated into the municipal decision-making process. The work group will provide insights and recommendations that could impact the day-to-day experiences of numerous residents and their four-legged friends alike. An application and interest form can be found on the city's official website and will remain open through the end of December 2024.
For those invested in the future of Minnetonka's furry residents, the deadline to step forward is December 31. The selected individuals will be contacted by January 10, 2025, with details of their inclusion or otherwise informed of their applicant status.
