Residents and commuters in Hickory County should prepare for a small bout of traffic reshuffling this week. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), there will be a closure on Route HH for pipe replacement. The section of road between County Road 346 and County Road 365 Loop southwest of Urbana, will not be passable come Wednesday, December 11, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
During these hours, MoDOT crews will be on-site replacing damaged pipes that necessitate road closure. While Route HH will be closed where the work is happening, local access will remain unhindered, with drivers able to reach driveways and entrances at both ends of the work zone, but won't be able to traverse the work area itself. All lanes will be open during nighttime hours, offering respite to those reliant on the route's regular operation.
No signed detours will be provided, which suggests that locals should familiarize themselves with the layout of the surrounding roads ahead of time. MoDOT encourages drivers to find alternate routes where possible to avoid delays. MoDOT suggests checking their Traveler Information Map for those seeking real-time updates on road conditions to stay informed of road closings and potential traffic impacts.
It should be noted that while the scheduled work is set for Wednesday, the actual undertaking is susceptible to the whims of weather and, or scheduling conflicts that could shift the maintenance timeline. Signs and message boards placed in strategic points will alert drivers as they draw near the work zone, ensuring that last-minute surprises are minimal. It's always best practice for drivers in the area to keep an eye on the sky and the MoDOT updates, to stay ahead of any potential changes.
