A tragic collision in north Phoenix has left a motorcyclist dead and another driver hospitalized. Phoenix Police have confirmed that the incident, involving a motorcycle and another vehicle, occurred on Sunday afternoon near 7th Street and Deer Valley Road. The motorcyclist, identified as 34-year-old Braiden Lawson, succumbed to his injuries after being taken to the hospital in critical condition, FOX 10 Phoenix reported.

Sgt. Phil Krynsky of the Phoenix Police detailed, running a red light, the motorcycle driven by Lawson reportedly crashed into a sedan making a left-hand turn. According to the investigation, Lawson was driving at a high rate of speed just before the collision, which occurred around 2:45 p.m. While Lawson's injuries proved to be fatal, the driver of the sedan was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, as mentioned by 12News.

Law enforcement arrived on the scene to find Lawson lying on the roadway and immediately provided aid to both men involved in the accident. The area was restricted for some time as authorities examined the scene for further evidence to piece together the events that led to the crash. "Preliminary information indicates Lawson was driving the motorcycle at a high rate of speed, westbound on Deer Valley Road, when he ran the red light and T-boned into a black Chevrolet Malibu, who was making a left-hand turn to head eastbound Deer Valley Road," police said in a statement obtained by 12News.

The Phoenix Police Department is conducting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the crash. More details about the accident and findings from the investigation will be forthcoming, as authorities have yet to release additional information to provide a clearer picture of the deadly incident. When speaking to the response of the fire department, providing aid to the injured men, Sgt. Krynsky applauded the efforts, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix.
