The Metropolitan Police Department has reported the arrest of 33-year-old Andre Clark in connection to a homicide that took place in Southeast Washington, D.C. The fatal incident, which left 28-year-old Leonard Taylor Jr. dead, occurred in October and has culminated in Clark's apprehension on charges of second-degree murder while armed.
According to a statement released by MPD, the events unfolded on the morning of October 20, when police responded to a vehicle crash on the 1400 block of 18th Street, Southeast. Upon their arrival, officers found an adult male victim within a vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, unresponsive, and ultimately pronounced dead at the scene. The investigations led authorities to identify a shooting site in the neighboring 1500 block of 19th Street, Southeast.
The victim, Leonard Taylor Jr, hailed from Suitland, MD, and was just 28 years old at the time of his untimely death. The case, which rattled the local community, remained unsolved for months until the MPD, along with the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, tracked down and arrested the suspect, Andre Clark. Authorities were able to bring Clark in custody yesterday, as per the issued DC Superior Court arrest warrant.
The details surrounding the motive and circumstances of the shooting remain scant, but Clark is now facing a serious charge of second-degree murder while armed.
