Authorities in Nashville have taken into custody 10 juveniles following the recovery of stolen vehicles linked to recent armed robberies. The Metro Nashville Police Department, as stated in a report by WSMV, apprehended the group on Monday after locating a stolen Kia Soul at Cane Ridge Park where it rendezvoused with a Nissan Maxima, also reported stolen during an armed carjacking on Murfreesboro Pike.
An intervention by detectives and a police helicopter led to the division of the two vehicles. MNPD details how the Maxima was later stopped at a gas station, leading to the detention of four teenagers from inside the vehicle. In a desperate bid to escape consequences, the WSMV report notes that the 17-year-old driver of the Maxima tried to flee while the passengers, ludicrously, began discarding guns from the windows.
The police successfully recovered two pistols—one confirmed as stolen—and an automatic rifle discarded near the Maxima. Meanwhile, in a related pursuit, folks at the MNPD managed to follow the Kia Soul to Post Oak Drive, resulting in the capture of six other occupants after a short foot chase, as per FOX17. The occupants ranged from the tender ages of 13 to 15, all now facing the grim reel of juvenile justice.
Each member of this youthful coterie is facing multiple charges. According to the information provided by WKRN, these charges include juvenile handgun possession, theft of a firearm, vehicle theft, joyriding, and evading arrest. The 17-year-old implicated in the gas station incident is facing the more severe charge of aggravated robbery. It's feared that as the investigation continues, the weight of additional charges might further anchor down their fleeting youth.
