A Nashville woman has been arrested on charges including attempted first-degree murder after a violent incident that escalated from a fight into a vehicular assault. Diamond Tankard, 21, is accused of intentionally hitting another woman with her car following a dispute outside a bar in North Nashville late last month.
On November 29, just after midnight, the victim and her sister were confronted by Tankard near their vehicle on 10th Avenue North, close to the Minerva Avenue bar. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department detailed that what started as a query over a male acquaintance quickly spiraled into a verbal altercation, then to fisticuffs. As the 30-year-old victim tried to deescalate the situation, Tankard took an aggressive turn: She jumped into her Range Rover, sped down the street, and made a beeline for the victim, striking her and causing critical injuries.
The incident was exacerbated by the fact that, at the time, Tankard was wearing an ankle monitor due to a separate domestic assault-related arrest. This device confirmed her presence at the scene during the time of the attack. Now, in addition to the charge of attempted murder, she also faces charges for failing to remain at the scene of an accident with injury and for not providing aid to the injured woman.
The bond amount set may reflect the gravity of these accusations; a court has set Tankard's bond at $1,002,000. Since her arrest, Tankard has yet to issue any statements regarding the charges or the incident.
