A man was taken to hospital after a shooting incident at a Taco Bell in New Bedford, officials reported. The early morning disruption occurred shortly before 1 a.m. at the establishment located on Coggeshall Street, where gunfire was reported and a man was found injured in the lobby of the fast food restaurant.
According to The Boston Globe, the victim was transported to a hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening, and police are yet investigating the events leading up to the shooting. Thus far, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
The neighborhood, which is not accustomed to such violent occurrences, has been left shaken. "It's just crazy to think that something like that happened around here. This area seems pretty calm most of the time," a local resident conveyed in an interview with NBC 10 News. The sentiment amongst those frequent the area, especially during the late nights, has undeniably shifted.
Jayden Baez, who works near the crime scene at a sneaker store, expressed his anxiety to NBC 10 News: "Anything can happen, especially at night. Especially in this city things are getting more wild."
