New Comprehensive Workforce Center to Open at Nashville State Community College's East Davidson CampusSource: State of Tennessee

Nashville is set to become an even more important hub for job seekers and learners by opening a new comprehensive Workforce Center on the East Davidson campus of Nashville State Community College. A partnership has been formed that brings together the expertise of the Northern Middle Tennessee Workforce Board, the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD), and Nashville State Community College's Center for Workforce Development & Continuing Education. The aim is to provide a one-stop solution for residents needing job assistance, training, and educational services.

According to the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development a press release, Nashville State President Dr. Shanna L. Jackson stated, "The goal is to enhance efficiency and ease of access for community members seeking training, job-seeking skills, career counseling, and continued education." With job placement assistance, training programs, and financial assistance for training on offer, the American Job Center (AJC) will move from its current Metro Center location to the new site at 2845 Elm Hill Pike, Nashville, TN 37214. However, while the transition is underway, a mobile AJC will continue to operate at the Metro Center location until December 16 to ensure no interruption in service.

The current AJC location will close its doors on December 13. The relocation of AJC to the East Davidson campus, slated to open on December 16, is a strategic move to leverage the accessible location and comprehensive programming of Nashville State's Workforce Center. Adult education classes at the Center commenced on December 2, signaling a commitment to continuing education in the region.

Nashville State's Workforce team is known for offering specialized education and training geared toward professional growth and hosting workshops for individuals and business employers. "We need to be in locations where it’s easy for our customers to reach us," Deniece Thomas, the TDLWD Commissioner, said, "Combining the services offered at the AJC with Nashville State’s comprehensive program at its Workforce Center can be a model for the state." Staff and operations from the Center for Workforce Development & Continuing Education are expected to complete their move to the East Davidson campus by mid-December, with new classes beginning in early 2025.
