On Friday evening, a routine traffic stop on Chef Menteur Highway turned into a pursuit when a driver refused to comply with Troop Nola troopers. As reported by WDSU, the attempted stop escalated quickly into a chase that ended with the suspect's vehicle crashing into another car. Post-crash, the driver tried to hastily flee on foot but was subsequently apprehended by the authorities.
Digging further into the incident, WWLTV stated that after the pursuit had ended, troopers conducted an investigation and uncovered that the crashed vehicle was indeed stolen. Thankfully, no injuries resulted from the event. Following the suspect's arrest, police announced, "The driver is being cleared before being booked at CLU."
Simultaneously, a curious discovery was made when Troop Nola officers noticed another person asleep at the wheel of a different vehicle in the vicinity of the crash. As per a statement obtained by NOLA.com, that vehicle was also identified as stolen. However, there was no immediate connection reported between the two stolen vehicles.
