Early this morning, New Orleans Police Department's Violent Offenders Warrant Squad and U.S. Marshal's service apprehended a suspect in connection with a homicide investigation stemming from an incident earlier this week. The suspect, 28-year-old Jalil Williams, was taken into custody without incident in New Orleans, as reported by the New Orleans Police Department.
Authorities were called to the 8000 block of Dwyer Road on December 16, after being alerted to an unresponsive person alongside a work truck. The victim was found with gunshot wounds and later pronounced dead at the hospital, later identified as 35-year-old Adam Brown, according to New Orleans Police Department News. Following an investigation, New Orleans Police Department Homicide detectives connected the killing with an attempted armed robbery, leading to Williams being named as the alleged assailant. Their work culminated in securing an arrest warrant for Williams on one count of second-degree murder.
The arrest took place in the 1000 block of Loyola Avenue, where Williams was located at approximately 5:45 a.m. New Orleans Police Department Violent Offenders Warrant Squad teamed up with the U.S. Marshals to execute this arrest. Now, Williams is set to be processed at the Orleans Parish Justice Center, details of which were provided by the New Orleans Police Department's report on the matter.
As the post-arrest procedures unfold, New Orleans Police Department urges anyone with further information related to the homicide to step forward. Calls can be directed to the New Orleans Police Department Homicide Section at 504-658-5300. In accordance with the principles of the American justice system, Williams is presumed innocent until proven otherwise in court.
