The Newport Police Department is currently conducting an investigation following the discovery of a body at an apartment complex in Newport. The deceased was found at the Village East Apartments, as per WIVK report.
Details regarding the incident are sparse, however, authorities have stated that there seems to be no sign of foul play at this juncture of the inquiry. According to WATE, the body has been transported to the Knox County Regional Forensic Center to undergo an autopsy to establish the cause of death.
Chief Scott Lamb of the Newport Police Department told WVLT , "I hope this eases any concerns by the public concerning the disinformation that has been spread on social media."
