
In a display of exceptional skill, Newton County's own Rodrigues Johnson soared to the top at the Solid Waste Association of North America's (SWANA) recent international competition. Johnson, who operates as a CDL Driver/Equipment Operator at the Newton County landfill, surpassed 15 contenders from across the nation on October 5. He not only claimed the first-place position but he was also designated as “Top Gun” amidst a competitive pool of 62 drivers. This information was detailed in a report by the Newton County government website.
With a tenure of more than five years at Newton County, Johnson has finessed his expertise in the art and discipline of operating heavy equipment. As part of the Newton County Solid Waste Authority team, he has shown a deep commitment to his work, an attribute that undoubtedly contributed to his recent victory.
The local authority showed their support, celebrating the outstanding performance that put their operator and, by extension, their waste management processes, on an international stage.
