A tragic incident left one man dead in a head-on collision on Interstate 55 near Sidney. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the scene at approximately 4:35 pm last Friday, where they discovered a multi-vehicle crash caused by a driver traveling in the wrong direction.
The preliminary investigation indicated that the male driver was going northbound in the southbound lanes, inevitably leading to a catastrophic clash with another vehicle, the impact was severe enough to claim his life on the spot, meanwhile accident reconstruction experts were called to unravel the precise series of events leading up to the crash.
The identity of the deceased has yet to be released pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the vehicle hit by the wrong-way motorist, a female, was fortunately found to be in stable condition despite the severity of the accident.
