A Palm Beach County science teacher has been temporarily removed from Palm Beach Central High School pending an investigation into unspecified allegations of misconduct. According to a letter sent to the families of students, which was shared by CBS12, the district did not offer details on the nature of the accusations against the teacher, Steven Allen, in light of the ongoing investigation.
"I want to assure all of our students and families that our school and the District take allegations of misconduct very seriously," Principal Reginald B. Myers wrote in the letter. In a similar report, WPTV noted that while specifics of the allegations remain undisclosed, the district is actively seeking information from those who may have relevant insights into the case.
The School District of Palm Beach County appears to be handling the situation with discretion, urging anyone with potentially useful information to contact Dr. Tom Welter at 561-304-1063. CBS12 reported that the administration is moving forward with measures to maintain the educational progression for students affected by the teacher's absence.
The school administration stressed the importance of maintaining academic continuity. "A qualified professional is filling in to keep students on track with curriculum," Principal Myers stated, according to WPTV. The investigation is ongoing.
