A Pembroke Park man was arrested yesterday, months after a woman was struck by his vehicle. According to Local10, Kristopher Keith Roman, 29, now faces an attempted murder charge for an event that unfolded in the early hours of September 12 near an Orion gas station, the 2022 light blue Honda Accord he was accused of driving was caught on surveillance footage making an aggressive beeline toward the victim.
Officers found the victim unresponsive, but she survived. After a long search for answers, Roman was ultimately apprehended, reports indicate cell phone tower data helped to confirm his presence at the crime scene, a move that came days after Roman claimed that the very vehicle identified in the assault had been stolen; authorities also seized evidence from the surveillance footage available at Roman's home.
Despite a thorough investigation involving multiple agencies, including the Broward Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Secret Service, the motive behind the violent act remains unclear, “Well, we have no idea why this person did this," Pembroke Park Police Chief Daniel Decoursey explicitly told NBC Miami, attesting to the absence of any known relationship between the accused and the victim.
The case, still shrouded in uncertainty, has moved from investigation to judicial review. Roman is being held without bond at Broward Main Jail, while the survivor continues their recovery through physical therapy. Despite clear evidence, the motive behind the incident remains unclear.
