
A tragic incident unfolded in Pima County on Christmas Eve when 53-year-old Paul Clifford was found dead near a smoldering vehicle, after reportedly offering assistance to a stranger claiming car trouble. According to 12News, the Pima County Sheriff's Department deputies arrived on the scene around 1:20 a.m. after receiving reports of suspicious activity, that may have been related to a stolen vehicle.
The sequence of events began when an unidentified individual approached Clifford at his home asking for help. When Clifford did not return home, his family contacted the authorities. Clifford's vehicle was later discovered at an apartment near Prince and Roger roads, as detailed by 12News. However, no arrests have been made as of yet in connection with the crime.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of Clifford's death and to locate the suspect. In a statement obtained by Arizona's Family, the identity of the victim was confirmed, but the details of how he was killed have not been disclosed.
