A fatal incident in a Salem apartment fire last Saturday morning has become the center of a police investigation. According to KPTV, Salem Police Department and firefighters were called to the blaze on the 1100 block of Northeast Chemeketa Street around 2:45 a.m., where they discovered a 38-year-old man deceased.

The Salem Police Violent Crimes Unit is investigating the unusual circumstances surrounding a man's death, which initially made the fire appear suspicious. The incident occurred in an apartment near downtown Salem and the Oregon State Capitol, adding complexity to the ongoing investigation.
