A Ponchatoula man has been taken into custody in connection to a murder in the Lacombe area. The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest of Osmer Noel Villalta-Lopez, following the discovery of a murdered man near the Lake Road boat launch.
Law enforcement found the victim, a male with multiple gunshot wounds, laying in the roadway at around 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 28. The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office stated that a deputy stumbled upon the scene during a routine patrol. Villalta-Lopez was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center on charges of First-Degree Murder and Obstruction of Justice less than a day after the body was identified.
The suspect, with a listed birth date of October 19, 2004, is facing serious accusations which, if proven, carry severe consequences. Details on the motive or circumstances leading to the incident have not been released by officials.
