An unsettling incident occurred this weekend in Portland's Lloyd District Neighborhood, where a woman was taken into custody following allegations of armed robbery. According to a news release from the Portland Police Bureau, officers were dispatched to the vicinity of North Williams Avenue and Northeast Multnomah Street on Saturday morning in response to a reported stabbing.
Upon their arrival at approximately 11:03 a.m., the officers did not find the stabbing victim, who reportedly left the scene before they could offer assistance. An investigation was underway as the police gathered information from witnesses. Walking off before help could arrive, the alleged stabbing victim's whereabouts and condition remained unknown.
As the day progressed, two individuals approached the officers, who had been camped out nearby in anticipation of a concert. They reported that they were threatened by a knife-wielding individual who demanded a sleeping bag. The police acted on this information and began a search for the suspect.
The search efforts led to quick results; they identified and apprehended the suspect, a 52-year-old Portland resident named Angelique Butler. Whilst taking her into custody, the officers found her in possession of a stolen sleeping bag and a large knife. Found in possession of what appeared to be the stolen item, Butler was promptly arrested.
Butler now faces multiple charges, including Robbery in the Second Degree, Menacing, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree. She was booked at Multnomah County Detention Center following the arrest. The Portland Police continue their investigation and ask anyone with additional information related to the case to come forward.
