Last night, a tragic domestic violence incident unfolded in Redwood City, ending in the death of an unidentified woman. The Redwood City Police Department (RCPD) responded to a call around 10:45 p.m. from a man claiming he had stabbed the victim in their shared home on the 900 block of 7th Avenue, as detailed in a press release.

The suspect, 57-year-old Juan Antonio Garcia, was apprehended by officers upon their arrival at the scene. Inside, they discovered the victim with multiple stab wounds. Despite efforts from the Redwood City Fire Department and AMR medics, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Menlo Park Police Department and San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office were on hand to manage the numerous witnesses present within the home.

In their ongoing investigation, Redwood City detectives have taken control of the case with support from the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office. The murder weapon has been located, and Juan Antonio Garcia is now being held at the Maguire Correctional Facility on charges of homicide and felony weapon charges. There has been no further threat to the public since the incident.
