A road incident has left one woman dead after she was ejected from her vehicle and struck by two different cars in Rutherford County, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The accident occurred early on Sunday, and authorities are currently in pursuit of one of the drivers involved who fled the scene.

Dominique Ann Anderson was behind the wheel of her 2011 Jaguar XF on I-24 East near Mile Marker 70 around 3:30 a.m., when the vehicle skidded off the roadway, Rutherford Source reports. The car entered the median, collided with a dirt embankment, and overturned several times, ultimately ejecting Anderson onto the opposite travel lanes. Following this, an unidentified vehicle struck Anderson and subsequently left the scene, a hit-and-run now under investigation by authorities. A second vehicle, a 2014 Toyota Prius, also hit Anderson, but unlike the first, the driver remained at the site of the incident.

The severity of the incident led to Anderson's death, as confirmed by officials. While the driver of the Prius is not currently facing any charges, the Tennessee Highway Patrol has stated that charges against the hit-and-run driver are pending the outcome of their ongoing investigation. As WSMV detailed, authorities are seeking any information that could assist in locating the driver who fled.

Anderson was reportedly not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, as noted by WKRN. The driver of the Toyota Prius, however, was confirmed to have been wearing theirs and did not sustain any injuries. As the search for the unknown driver continues, the Tennessee Highway Patrol has not yet released further details about the driver or the vehicle they are looking to find.
