A grim scene unfolded in the parking lot of The Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem as a man was left in critical condition following a stabbing incident yesterday evening. According to NBC Boston, Salem police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a stabbing near the food court entrance at around 8:05 p.m.
First responders arrived on scene to find the wounded man, a 20-year-old from Windham, and rapidly provided medical assistance, including placing a chest seal on a significant stab wound to his torso. The victim was subsequently taken by ambulance to Lawrence General Hospital and then airlifted to a Boston hospital, where he underwent surgery and as per the latest updates, remains in critical condition. Meanwhile, another individual with a knife wound to their arm sought treatment at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester and has been connected to the incident, as per WMUR.
Evidence collection and witness interviews were promptly conducted by Salem detectives. The mall's parking lot was meticulously combed for hours, as investigators sought to piece together the events of the night. Not long after the crime was reported, police identified a vehicle believed to be involved, seen fleeing from the scene. This vehicle was later recovered, abandoned in Salem.
Overnight actions included the execution of a search warrant at a Londonderry residence linked to the stabbing, further expanding the scope of the investigation. Additional search warrants are currently being pursued by detectives as they continue to unravel the circumstances surrounding the violent altercation. Salem police have expressed confidence that all parties involved in the matter have been identified and assure the public that there is no ongoing threat.
