During a focused patrol for the holiday season, the Salt Lake City Police Department made eight arrests for DUI. The SLCPD is actively reminding folks to keep the streets safe and not to get behind the wheel when impaired. Between December 20th and the morning of December 24th, officers cracked down on intoxicated drivers, leading to seven alcohol-related and one methamphetamine DUI arrest, as reported by SLCPD.
With holiday festivities in full swing, there can be a dangerous uptick in impaired driving. Driving under the influence can be avoidable and simple arrangements such as hailing a rideshare can prevent potential tragedies and costly legal troubles. In one case, a wrong-way driver nearly collided with an SLCPD vehicle, and another incident involved a driver who caused damage to multiple cars. The SLCPD is amplifying its message: don't drink and drive. They're offering a simple solution; you just need to get a designated driver or easily hop into a cab or an Uber.
