In the early hours of December 26, a tragic occurrence unfolded on Loop 410 near Vance Jackson Road, resulting in the death of a man. According to MySanAntonio, a wrong-way driver collided with another vehicle around 2 a.m. Subsequently, the driver of the struck vehicle exited his car and was hit by a second vehicle.
Castle Hills police later identified the man who was hit as a witness who had stopped to aid those involved in the initial crash. Sadly, despite his efforts to assist, the man succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the hospital. Officers informed KSAT that the wrong-way driver was found to have a blood-alcohol level nearly three times above the legal limit and was arrested on driving while intoxicated charges.
This fatal incident caused the shutdown of the westbound lanes of Loop 410 between Blanco Road and Vance Jackson for several hours as the site was examined by law enforcement and cleared. Locals were alerted to the situation through a public safety notification advising of the incident on LP 410 W at Jackson Keller, as per MySanAntonio.
As per police, the female driver who struck the victim while he exited his vehicle to render aid will not face charges. Meanwhile, the identity of the deceased man, as well as the specifics of potential charges against the driver who hit him, remain undisclosed by authorities in the present moment.
