San Diego authorities are on the lookout for a burglary suspect who struck in the Clairemont Mesa neighborhood on November 12. The incident involved a vehicle burglary in which the victim lost $1,300 in cash and a debit card. San Diego County Crime Stoppers, along with the San Diego Police Department’s Northern Division, have contacted the public seeking assistance in catching the responsible person.
The chain of events began when the victim withdrew the sum from the Bank of America at 5851 Balboa Ave. The victim drove to a nearby church shortly after leaving the cash inside the vehicle. It was here, the police say, that an individual shattered the front passenger window and made off with the money and card. A suspect vehicle has been identified from security footage, reportedly a silver Nissan Sentra with a distinctive black strap around the trunk.
The suspect is described as a male in his 20s or 30s, but detectives have not determined his race. Details emerged after video reviews from both the bank and the church's parking lot, according to the City of San Diego's official statement from the San Diego Police Department. The investigative team encourages anyone with information about the suspect or the car to come forward.
Those with information can contact the SDPD’s Northern Division or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for tips that lead to an arrest in the case. To anonymously provide a tip, individuals can contact the Crime Stoppers tip line or use their web or mobile app options. All relevant contact details for the investigation and Crime Stoppers can be found on the SDPD’s official website.
Media-related questions regarding this case can be directed to Lt. Paul Phillips or Officer Mark Herring for inquiries specific to Crime Stoppers. Deputy Emilio Castillero is also available for contact via email. The search is on for this suspect, and authorities are hopeful that community tips will lead to a swift arrest and closure for the victim.
