A San Francisco man, Lionell White, age 47, has been convicted on charges of domestic violence and assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, following a jury trial. The conviction was announced by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. White's violent attack on a woman in her own home led to the recent verdict. District Attorney Brooke Jenkins expressed her appreciation for the jury's decision, stating, "The jury’s verdict holds Mr. White accountable and sends a clear message that domestic violence is unacceptable, and perpetrators will face consequences."
The stern tone of the proceedings reflects the gravity of the crimes committed on February 24 when White, during an argument, resorted to punching the victim in the face and violently slamming her head against the wall. He proceeded to strangle her with a belt until she was rendered unconscious. It was several months later that the SFPD apprehended White. According to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, Assistant District Attorney Richard Hullinger commended the survivor's bravery, saying, "I have the greatest respect and admiration for the survivor in this case who had the courage to testify against her abuser despite the great personal cost she paid in doing so."
Currently held in custody, White is expecting his sentencing on January 14, 2025. The prosecution team, led by Assistant District Attorney Richard Hullinger, along with District Attorney Investigator Dana Lee, paralegals Loretta Luu and Lena Ku, and IT support from Noaeh Pinaire, built a robust case supported by an investigation by the San Francisco Police Department’s Tenderloin Station.
