The holiday season has officially begun, and Scottsdale is rolling out the red carpet with its annual yuletide bash, Scottsdazzle. According to Phoenix New Times, the festivities kicked off on Nov. 30 with a free sing-along and Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the Scottsdale Waterfront. Folks gathered, eager to quickly partake in the Scottsdazzle cheer, a series of events that decorate Old Town Scottsdale with figurative bows and bells for December.
"I look forward to the annual sing-along, tree lighting and the official launch of the Scottsdazzle holiday season," Mayor David D. Ortega told Visit Arizona. Businesses throughout Old Town are extending Scottsdazzle specials throughout the month, so it's the perfect time to support local commerce and to, arguably, get lost in the magic of the season's offerings.
But Scottsdazzle isn't just a single evening spectacle. This year’s calendar includes a series of community-centric events such as the Sparkle & Spin Bicycle Scavenger Hunt and the Scottsdazzle-themed artwalk. Rachel Smetana, director of tourism and events for the city of Scottsdale, remarked to Visit Arizona, "This season brings the community together through unique activities, offering both residents and visitors a festive opportunity to experience Old Town Scottsdale."
The city is committed to offering many activities free of charge, aiming to ensure residents and visitors alike can virtually attend multiple Scottsdazzle events without having their holiday budgets take a hit. The downtown area will be alight with holiday decorations, special performances, and a multitude of opportunities for families to create memories, from meeting Santa at the Farmer's Market to outdoor movie nights showcasing holiday classics like "The Grinch".
A full lineup of Scottsdazzle events and details can be found on their official website. The range of events ensures that there's something on the holiday calendar for everyone—from the shopaholics to the art aficionados, from the film buffs to the ones who just want to sing their hearts out to holiday tunes. Scottsdale is ready to end the year with a twinkling, festive bang.
