Heads up, Garland residents! It's that time of year again when holiday cheer meets a slight shift in your routine services. According to the City of Garland's official announcement, you'll want to keep track of the modified hours for local facilities and services as we dive into the festive season.
Most city offices, including utility customer service, tax offices, and recreation and senior centers, are taking a break on the Christmas and New Year holidays. Specifically, as stated in the City of Garland's latest alert, they'll shut their doors on Dec. 25, 26, and Jan. 1. But fret not—these spots will reopen on Friday, Dec. 27, and resume regular operation by Jan. 2.
Firewheel Golf Park plays a different tune for those planning a holiday swing with tee times. Its swinging doors will close early at 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve and 5 p.m. on New Year's Eve, ensuring that golfers can still enjoy a bit of the green before the celebrations begin. However, remember the park will be off-limits on Christmas and New Year’s Day.
The Recycling Center, Transfer Station, and landfill will temporarily cease operations on Christmas, the day following, and the first day of the New Year. As the city outlines, your regular Wednesday trash pickup will slide to Thursday until the weekend, making for a merry little dance of trash and recycling trucks through the holiday weeks.
